Courage to change
I know what it feels like to be at the cusp of a big life change. I also know the amount of
desire and courage it takes to make significant changes in your life. We need courage, not because it shows our strength; rather, because it shows our ability to act in spite of our challenges. Courage may be one of the most important characteristics for changing your life. We all get one life – embrace change.
The courage to change your life starts with understanding that the old way of doing things isn’t working for you anymore. You have to get to a place where you really own the fact that your current habits are not working in your best interest. Making significant changes in your life requires you to get out of your comfort zone and take some risks. Risk is scary because when you take risks, you may fail . Of course, the other side of the coin is that only by taking risks can we truly succeed.
The courage to change can show up in a lot of different ways from making a difficult decision about your goals, to ending a life of unhealthily eating, to leaving your lucrative but unfulfilling day job. I have done them all, and I can tell you that through courage and perseverance I was able to make some significant changes. My life is totally different today than it was 10 years ago.
Being mindful will help you cultivate courage. In addition, it will help you to focus on the present moment and the thoughts and feelings you are having around making or creating change. We begin to see the ever changing state of our thoughts and feelings and realize that whatever we’re experiencing in the moment—good, bad, or ugly, will change.
Courage allows you to embrace the values that are important to you now. It allows you to act in ways that strengthen rather than undermine your self-esteem. Courage motivates you to take ownership of your life and assume responsibility for everything you do, including your mistakes and failures, as well as achievements and successes. Today is a great day to change. Let me help you along your journey. www.pennvieau.com
