Your thoughts impact your life

Positive thinking impacts every aspect of your life. Your physical health, your emotional well-being, your relationships, your career success, your wealth, your self-image — the list goes on and on.

Here’s the brain science behind this statement. I think of it as T.E.A.R.

Thoughts create emotion. Emotions/feelings influence our actions, Actions dictate our Results. For example, let’s say you have thoughts of “I will never get into shape”. “I’m just not a person who likes to exercise". “I am only going to live once, so I’m going to eat whatever I want, whenever I want." That leads to emotions of helplessness, hopelessness, despair, fear etc. Which leads to what actions? You stay stagnant. Binge eating and sweets become the norm. You choose not to exercise. The result is that you gain weight, you become short of breath while using the stairs or walking uphill. You feel sluggish and potentially lack self-confidence. Just so you know, I am speaking from experience in this area, and it’s not a great place to be.

The good news is that you can do something about this. Start by changing your thoughts. Tell yourself, “I love to exercise and eat well.” “Taking care of my body is important to me.” “I feel amazing after I exercise.” “I only eat food and drink liquids that provide my proper nutrition.” This will lead to thoughts of hope, optimism, excitement and desire to live a healthy lifestyle. You will start taking actions that move you closer to the physical health you desire. You start exercising on a consistent basis. You get your “steps” in every day. You become mindful of what you are eating and what liquids you are consuming. You will start to educate yourself on how to live a healthy lifestyle. The result is that you will be living your life at your ideal weight. You will have tons of energy and confidence. People start to notice there is something different about you.

I am not saying that you will achieve your ideal body weight or any goal for that matter by simply thinking about it. What I am saying, is that whatever results you are currently experiencing in your life, they started with a thought.
